Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has officially commenced shooting for his next big project, Battle of Galwan, in the breathtaking yet treacherous landscapes of Leh. The film, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, is a hard-hitting war drama inspired by the real-life events of June 15, 2020, when Indian soldiers clashed with the Chinese Liberation Army in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh.
A Story of Courage and Sacrifice
The film recreates the night when 200 soldiers of the 16 Bihar Regiment, led by Col. Santosh Babu (played by Salman Khan), defended Indian territory against nearly 1200 PLA troops. What began as a disengagement mission at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) turned into one of the fiercest confrontations in recent history, highlighting the grit, patriotism, and unflinching bravery of Indian soldiers.
With its tagline of “A battle for honour, a tale of sacrifice”, the film aims to serve as both a tribute and a cinematic chronicle of the clash that left a deep imprint on the nation’s memory.
